Welcome to the Capital Ceramic Supply Store!
We offer wood-firings at our Delmar kiln, designed and built by us in 2022. We are passionate about ceramics and community building and wood-firings are a wonderful way to build that community. From potluck meals, to cutting wood, wadding, filling the kiln, taking shifts feeding the fire, all the way to the community meal and big reveal when we open the kiln, we want to spend time with others who love wood-firings as much as we do.
Here's how our wood-firings are organized:
Before (Thursday, 5-10pm): Before we can fire our wood-kiln we need to prepare the pieces, which involves the following activities:
During (Friday-Saturday): Fire-stoking shifts!
The firing lasts for 24-30 hours divided into six-hour shifts.
We ask that each person commit to one six hour shift during the kiln firing as part of our community building efforts.
Cool Down (Sunday-Monday)
Nothing to do ... we are waiting for our pieces to cool down!
Opening: Tuesday around 5pm
Each person gets 2 cubic feet for $250. You can bring many small pieces, or a few large pieces, and we'll do our best to fit everything. As an example, this would allow you to bring 18-20 mugs that are each 5" tall and 4" in diameter. All pieces must use cone 10 high-fire clay and already be bisqued (no greenware!). Some glazes will be provided for the Thursday glazing/wadding/filling event.
